Hello world!
I know what you guys must be thinking. "Another blog about fashion? Why, oh why!?'
Well, allow me to enlighten you as to why I'm here.
I am a former civil war reenactor and an avid fan of the Steampunk genre. During my wanderings around the internets I noticed that most people have little to no understanding of many historical time periods, let along the fashions from said periods. Now I could go off on a rant about the lack of decent history classes in schools these days, but I digress...
The idea behind this blog is to help normal people understand historical fashion. I don't just mean garment names either. I'm talking about how to layer, what colors were worn by people of different ages, what is a corset and how to wear one, and how to sit in a hoop skirt without flipping your dress and showing off your underpinnings. Yes, I will be covering mostly ladies fashions since I am a lady, and therefor I've had more experience in researching and wearing ladies garments.
I'll probably start off somep0lace in the Civil War time period since that's what I'm most familiar with. Where possible I'll provide links to sites that I find helpful, educational, or just plain fun.
Lets see where this goes!
